Topical gels of Ketoprofen were prepared by using varying concentrations of Sodium CMC. The viscosity of prepared gels was estimated using a Brookfield viscometer having T-bar spindles and a helipath attachment. The data obtained were plotted graphically to determine whether the systems is Newtonian or Non-Newtonian, the type of Non- Newtonian flow, time dependent or independent and thixotropic or rheopexic nature of gels.Keywords

A simple, rapid, sensitive and highly precise High Performance Thin Layer Chromatographic Method has been developed for the estimation of Paracetamol, Aceclofenac and Chlorzoxazone in tablets. HPTLC was performed on CAMAG LINOMAT IV, TLC Scanner Version 3.20, using toluene, ethyl acetate and glacial acetic acid (17.5:10:0.5 v/v) as mobile phase. The Chromatogram was developed in CAMAG twin trough glass containing mobile phase. The TLC plates were scanned at 271 nm in schimadzu dual wavelength scanner, and Rf value of Paracetamol, Aceclofenac and Chlorzoxazone was found to be 0.12, 0.29 and 0.72, respectively. The linearity of Paracetamol, Aceclofenac and Chlorzoxazone shows a correlation coefficient of 0.9995, 0.9991, and 0.9997, respectively. The proposed method was validated by determining sensitivity, accuracy, precision and system suitability parameters.Keywords

Epilepsy is a common neurological condition, affecting 0.5% to 1% of the population worldwide. Rational drug design process of a new anticonvulsant could be achieved in several ways. The first strategy is the identification of new targets through better understanding of molecular mechanisms of epilepsy. Another way is to modify already existing drugs and formulations. The chemical diversity and various mechanisms of action of anticonvulsants make it difficult to find a common way of identifying new drugs. Novel anticonvulsant agents are discovered through conventional screening and/or structure modification. The new AEDs and anticonvulsant agents representing various structures have been reviewed in the present review. The newer agents include sulfonamides, amino acids, amides (analogs of g-vinyl GABA, N-benzylamides, 2,6-dimethylanilides, carboxyamides, hydroxyamides, alkanoamides); heterocyclic agents ((arylalkyl) imidazoles, tricyclic indoles, indazoles, arylpiperazine and piperazines, pyrrolidin-2,5-diones, pyridazinone, lactams, semi- thiosemicarbazones, thiadiazoles, quinazolin-4 (3H)-ones, 2,5-disubstituted 1,2,4-thiadiazoles, xanthones, derivatives of isatin), enaminones, imidooxy compounds and valproic acid derivatives. These new structural classes of compounds can prove useful for the design of future targets and development of new drugs.Keywords

Nanosuspensions (Muller et al., 1995) have emerged as a promising strategy for the efficient delivery of hydrophobic drugs because of their versatile features and unique advantages. The present article describes the details about nanosuspensions. Nanosuspensions consist of the pure poorly water-soluble drug without any matrix material suspended in dispersion. The review article includes the methods of preparation with their merits and demerits, characterization and evaluation parameters. A nanosuspension not only solves the problems of poor solubility and bioavailability, but also alters the pharmacokinetics of drug and thus improves drug safety and efficacy.Keywords

The assesement of immunomodulatory activity of hydro-alcoholic extracts of dried leaves of Euphorbia neriifolia Linn. (100, 200 and 400 mg/kg, p.o.) and dried flowers of Hibiscus rosa sinensis Linn. (75, 150 and 300 mg/kg, p.o.) were done by carbon clearance method, haemagglutination antibody titre method and footpad swelling method on wistar albino rats. Results of present studies suggest that the hydro-alcoholic extract of Euphorbia neriifolia Linn. was found to be more efficacious action on immune components on animals than hydro-alcoholic extract of Hibiscus rosa sinensis Linn. in dose dependent manner when compared with control group.Keywords

Dindori is a trible district of Madhya Pradesh situated in Upper Narmada Basin. The district is far away from agricultural development. Only traditional farming with limited irrigated area (1.2%) is being practiced. In order to improve this situation a detailed water resource plan is prepared as water is the key resource. First net availability of ground water is estimated and possible numbers of ground water structures are worked out and resulting increase in irrigated area is also determined. Similarly the surface water resources are also taken in account. Looking to all this suitable changed cropping pattern for the district is also suggested. In order to recharge ground water possible location for recharge structures are found out for each block of the district as per CGWB guide lines.Keywords
